Packt subscribers on any plan can earn a download credit each month. All you need to do is complete 40 sections of content in your billing month (see more below) and we add a free download credit to your account automatically. Use these credits to download and own any Packt title in formats like PDF, ePub and MP4.

A section is defined as a single page of a book or video. This is represented by a single URL in your browser. At the bottom of a page you will see the two navigation buttons; Previous Chapter and Next Chapter. By clicking Next Chapter you are confirming that you have completed the page you are on.

When you complete a section you will notice that a tick appears in the left side navigation of the book or video title you are using. Check the example below, Part 1 and Chapter 1 are completed.

Ticks will appear against any section you have been to and clicked Next Section on.

When you go to your credits dashboard (here) you can see both your current credit balance and the number of sections completed. As you complete more sections the section count will go up until it hits 40. After the count has got to 40, the count will not continue to increase.

A customer on a monthly plan will need to complete 40 sections each billing cycle. For example if you sign up on March 10th you will need to complete 40 sections by your next billing date on April 10th.

A customer on an Annual or 18 Month plan will need to complete 40 sections each month inline with their original sign up date. For example, if you signed up on March 10th you will need to complete 40 sections by the 10th of each subsequent month.

Note: Credits cannot be used on licensed content from external publishers like Wiley, Wrox, Sybex and For Dummies. Sections are not counted during trial periods or after a subscription plan has ended.
